Captain Cook's Cottage and Fitzroy Gardens, Melbourne Australia

Information:- Fitzroy Gardens
Fitzroy Gardens is one of Melbourne's most historic and beautiful Gardens. originally set aside as a reserve in 1848, the layout follows a classic Victorian-era design, featuring pathways lined with magnificent Elm trees, and a variety of flowers, ornamental shrubs and trees which together with extensive lawns create a diverse and layered landscape.

We  came here during winter time and the Fitzroy Gardens are amazing, a lovely garden with large variety of trees, shrubs and flowers. The trees are beautiful and tall. You will see people relaxing there with family, friends and kids. The gardens has few attractions which you might be interested in. Cooks Cottage is one of them. There is an information centre as well if you are after the details.

Information:- Cook's Cottage
A visit to the historic landmark Cook's Cottage, situated in the beautiful heritage listed gardens, is a must when exploring Melbourne

Built in 1755, Cook's Cottage is the oldest building in Australia and a popular Melbourne tourist attraction.

Original located in Yorkshire, England and built by the parents of Captain James Cook, the cottage was brought to Melbourne by Sir Russell Grimwade in 1934. Astonishingly, each brick was individually numbered, packed into barrels and then shipped to Australia.

Gorgeous little cottage that transports you back in time. Furniture and decorations in the cottage were significantly accurate, they truly have done a wonderful job capturing the time in which it lived in. The cottage is very small and warm even on the cooler days.

The grounds would delight all who love flowers. People inside cottage dress in 18th century style for visitors. There is also an opportunity for adults and children to dress up in clothes of the time and have their photo taken.

You can spend around 30 minutes. However, the staff there were very nice and willing to give you any information.

Beautiful garden surrounds and other sights nearby
