On the Yarra's northern bank, bordered by Spencer, Flinders and King streets, Batman Park name checks one of Melbourne's founding father's John Batman. Planted with eucalyptus, the park was established in 1982 on the site of a disused freight train rail yard.
The views from the Spencer Street Bridge is a particular nice place for a walk and to take in the Melbourne city skyline and extends all the way to the South Bank business, commercial and art precinct to St Kilda road.
The Crown Casino is one of Melbourne;s modern landmarks and is well located on the South Bank of the Yarra River.
The Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) is the name given to two adjacent buildings next to Yarra River in South Wharf. It has hosted everything from meetings, conventions and exhibitions to concerts, tradehsows and gala dinners. This building also known as "Jeff's Shed" after a former premier of Victoria.
The walk along the South Wharf promenade takes a gentle twenty minutes affording great views of the modern architecture of the CBD interspersed with occasional older traditional buildings and bridges.
South Wharf promenade is a nice place for a quiet walk during the day and the short walk go to DFO South Wharf. Lots of nice cafes and restaurants along the riverside that fill up in the evenings.
The DFO South Wharf is a large complex with a variety of different discount stores. The floors are divided into different shopping items. The top floor is home wares, middle floor sportswear and sporting goods and the basement is clothing and etc.

By Train
Southern Cross Station and walk towards the Yarra River across the new pedestrian bridge and continue down Orrs Walk between the MCEC and the Hilton Hotel to arrive at DFO South Wharf.
By Tram
- Tram numbers 96 and 112 stop opposite the Clarendon Street entrance of the Melbourne Exhibition Centre. Follow the walkway around the MCEC and continue down Orrs Walk between the MCEC and the Hilton Hotel to arrive at DFO South Wharf.
- Tram number 70 stops at the end of Flinders Street. Walk towards the Yarra River across the new pedestrian bridge and continue down Orrs Walk between the MCEC and the Hilton Hotel to arrive at DFO South Wharf.
- Tram number 109 stops at the end of the Melbourne Exhibition Centre. Walk 150m along Normanby Road towards Montague Street. Cross Normanby Road at the traffic lights leading into the South Wharf Car Park. Follow pedestrian path to DFO entrance to arrive at DFO South Wharf.
